Bloomberg is reporting that the U.S. House approved today a measure to add $2B to the Cash for Clunkers CARS rebate program. Rebates of up to $4500 are being offered to consumers – through particpating dealerships – on the purchase of qualifying new cars when their old ones are traded in and crushed. The rebates are given directly dealers, once they’ve proven a traded vehicle has been crushed.

That said, one of the NY Times blogs suggests that many dealerships are frustrated, especially because they cannot access the website where deals have to be registered.
