French researchers say that the central nervous systems of lab rats have been damage with a chemical agent known as DEET (or N,N-Diethyl-3-methylbenzamide). DEET is found in some brands of insect repellent and could potential cause similar nerve damage in any of the 200M people that use it yearly. Other side effects pesticides include birth defects and cancer.
